Policies + Procedures

General

Note: Pets could be considered as dogs, cats, fish, or other domestic animals. 

All pets will be treated with respect and kindness at all times. There will be no force or intimidation used at any time and for any reason. 

Your pet(s) will be provided with care that will be stimulating both mentally and physically and will be engaged during care.  Unleashed Ldn will always be attentive to assure safety and contentment.

Unleashed Ldn will provide daily updates during service time or at the end of service time.

Unleashed Ldn will inform you immediately of any serious occurrence such as illness, fights, or strange behaviour by phone and by email.  If Unleashed Ldn is not able to contact you in case of an emergency, please see the VET INFORMATION/PROTOCOL below. 

If your pet(s) shows any signs of fear or discomfort during walks, this will be discussed and evaluated as soon as possible to understand the reason and make adjustments to the service if needed. Service time may be reduced if needed.

Unleashed Ldn will provide you with at least two weeks' notice before going on a long-term holiday.  If you require other pet care, Unleashed Ldn can provide a list of other service providers. Short-term absences will be noted as soon as possible. 

 In the rare event of illness, Unleashed Ldn will inform you immediately to determine whether:

  •  You have your pets covered in other ways
  • Provide service in a shortened manner to provide only necessary care (washroom needs, food, water, etc.)
  • Provide a “backup “ walker from another agreed-upon service provider for your pets

Home Security + Data Protection

·        Unleashed Ldn will keep all Client keys, access codes, and personal information secure and in safekeeping. Duplicate key(s) will be kept at the home office as a backup. Unleashed Ldn will also return all of the above at the end of the contract, or immediately upon request. Unleashed Ldn will not be responsible for any keys the Client has asked to be mailed (and mailing will be at the Client’s expense).

·        At no time will Unleashed Ldn enter a property left unlocked or enter with keys left in a mailbox, under the doormat, etc. And at no time will Unleashed Ldn leave premises unlocked at owner’s request, or hide keys outside of the premises. If discussed otherwise, it is at the owner's own risk. If preferred, we can provide a lockbox for a fee. 

·While providing service, at no time will Unleashed Ldn allow access to anyone who is not a permanent resident of the dwelling. This includes contractors or family members not recognized as permanent residents of the dwelling. Advance notice would be appreciated if any individuals not currently living on the premises will be on site while Unleashed Ldn provides service.

Terms + Conditions

·        For group walks, your dog must be non-aggressive and well-socialized with other dogs and people.  Should your dog become aggressive, this contract is terminated and there will be no notice and no walker referrals.  However, Unleashed Ldn will help you to find an appropriate trainer to help with aggression issues.

·        Your pets must remain current with required vaccinations (listed in Pet Profile). Your pets must be free of external parasites and be on an annual flea & tick prevention program (no flea collars allowed) from May to November. Please note, that ticks are here year-round when the weather is mild.

·       Your dog must be in good health to attend group walks.  If your dog is in a group walk and is ill, a short bio break will be provided, but the dog will not be allowed into the group to avoid spreading illness.

·        Your dog must be a minimum of 16 weeks old for group walks. However, it is recommended that puppies up to 1 year go on shorter walks while they grow.

·        Your pets must have a current City of London Dog Licence/Tag on their collar, as well as a rabies tag, and a name tag (with home contact information). The pet's owner, and not Unleashed Ldn, will be liable for any fines incurred if the pet is not wearing such identification.

·        Owners are to provide properly fitted collars, harnesses, leashes, and coats/boots, if necessary. Owners must also ensure that all equipment is in good working order.  Unleashed Ldn will not be liable for faulty equipment. Unleashed Ldn will not use aversive tools such as choke collars, bark collars or e-collars. Quick-release leashes will not be used, only 4-6 foot leashes.

·       Unleashed Ldn is not responsible for replacing harnesses, leashes, coats, boots, license/name tags, etc. that may get damaged during walks.

·Unleashed Ldn is not a veterinarian and therefore will not be responsible for detecting or diagnosing illness or injury.

Cancellations, Scheduling + Timing

·        24-HOUR NOTICE BY TEXT OR EMAIL is required to cancel a scheduled walk. Unleashed Ldn must confirm receipt of the phone or email message for cancellation to be valid. If Unleashed Ldn is not contacted or is given less than 24 hours' notice of cancellation, the Client will be charged in full for that day’s walk/service. Please note: A written note left for Unleashed Ldn does not count as a cancellation notice.

·        If Unleashed Ldn arrives at the Client’s home for a scheduled walk or service and the pet(s) is unavailable, the Client will be charged in full for that day’s walk/service.

·        If Unleashed Ldn is unable to gain access to the Client’s home because of faulty key(s)/lock(s), key(s) not left at the concierge, or because of changed lock(s) or alarm/security code(s), Unleashed Ldn will not be able to walk the dog and the Client will be charged in full for that day’s walk/service.

·If unforeseen circumstances arise (outside of extreme weather conditions) where Unleashed Ldn would have to cancel a walk and give the Client less than 24 hours' notice, Unleashed Ldn will reschedule that walk at no charge. 

Inclement Weather

  • Walks take place in rain, shine, or snow (dangerous weather excluded).
  • Please note walks will be shortened if there is a fire/smoke hazard throughout the warmer seasons. 
  •  Walks will not occur if there are weather advisories or strong storms with thunder and lightning. Walks may be shortened to 20 minutes or less in extreme weather for both the dogs’ and the walker’s safety.
  • In the most extreme case of a service cancellation, the Client will be notified by phone.

Returning Dirty Dogs

Due to the nature of dog walking, dogs can get wet, dirty, and muddy -- even on sidewalks. Therefore:

·        Please be prepared to identify returning entrances during consultation.

·Please leave towels near the returning door/mud room, and Unleashed Ldn will do their best to wipe down your dog upon drop-off. Please note: Unleashed Ldn does not provide bathing services and will not be responsible for washing your pets.

Emergency Procedures

Unleashed Ldn carries a mobile phone for emergencies. If your pet is lost, injured, or sick, the protocol is as follows:

If lost:

·         Contact the owner or emergency phone on the Client information sheet as soon as possible.

·         Return other dogs in the group

·         Contact Animal Services if lost or vet if sick

·         Bring the pet to the vet if sick

·         Attempt to locate the missing pet with the assistance of our pet care community

If injured or sick:

·        If Unleashed Ldn deems immediate veterinary care to be necessary, she will transport the pet to its veterinary clinic/hospital (if they are available and can accommodate the nature of the dog’s injury or sickness), or to the nearest Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC). She will also attempt to reach the Client/owner while the animal is in transit (if possible).

·        If the Client/owner is unreachable, Unleashed Ldn will have the attending veterinarian proceed with any treatment(s) required.

·       The Client/owner of the pet will assume all financial responsibility for the veterinary test(s)/treatment(s)/hospitalization fee(s).

·        The Client/owner may also be responsible for an additional fee for Unleashed Ldn to transport the pet and/or wait until the Client/owner can be reached and/or can take over care of the pet.

·        The Client/owner will ensure the pet’s veterinary clinic/hospital is aware of the above arrangements so that veterinary care is not delayed if the Client/owner cannot be reached.

·        Please have your credit card on file with your veterinarian to ensure that your pet can be cared for immediately.  Please also provide your veterinarian with your pet care provider’s information so they can take your pet if dropped off by Unleashed Ldn

Payment

·        Fees and payment schedule will depend upon the regularity of services provided and will be discussed and mutually agreed upon before services commence.

·        Payments can be made via Square Invoicing, debit/credit by machine in person, by cash or by e-transfer. Please provide your phone number and email address. GST will be charged for all services.

·Generally, invoices will be sent over the weekend and it is expected to be paid within 48 hours of receipt of this.

Photography

Unleashed Ldn may photograph or video the Client’s dog and use these photos/recordings for marketing and promotional purposes without any liability or obligation by the Client. If you do not wish to have your pets photos on our socials, please indicate on your pet profile during our meet + greet.

Pet Profile REQUIRED

A pet profile will be provided at meet + greet to fill out. This is required by our insurance (ProFur) to ensure all information on hand is accurate, up to date and emergency contacts are on file. Thank you.

  • In Home Nail Trim/Grind $15+tax

    We will travel to you for your nail trims. I have some formal training at a grooming salon (2 years) for dog nails and have done about 100+ dogs with professional help. Please note, I am still on the newer side of things so dogs must be comfortable with nail trims. Old South ONLY.

  • 15 Minute / $20 + tax

    These short check in's are great for inclement weather for dog walks for those days a quick bathroom break is all that is needed. Check in's can also include house checks, cat, fish, and other small pet check in's while you're away for extended times.

  • 30 Minute / $23 + tax

    Used for dogs who need a yard run, a short neighbourhood walk or just some 1-on-1 time.

  • 45 Minutes / $28 + tax

    Our most PUP-ular choice* for walks. A little more than a basic walk but only a little bit of adventure. This can be a walk in the neighbourhood or a trip to the closest off leash area.

  • 1 Hour / $35 + tax

    Let's go on an adventure! We walk to a park within your neighbourhood, might go to a dog-friendly store, or go to your closest off leash area. Adventures can also be discussed to be customized and adjusted if you'd like your dog (and a doggy friend) to have a beach day, an afternoon hiking, or something more adventurous than your neighbourhood park.

  • Additional Dogs / + $7 tax

    This is for dogs with fur siblings in their own households. Dogs from seperate households will be billed as a full walk accordingly.
